Managed tiers run Claude Sonnet 4.6 via Anthropic's API as the primary model and Mistral Large (Mistral AI, France) for background and fallback tasks. Your business data stays on your isolated per-tenant managed instance — only LLM prompts are processed by the AI providers under their DPA and GDPR terms. AI usage is subject to our Fair Use Policy.

Is lynox really free?
Yes. The engine is source-available under the ELv2 license. You can self-host it at no cost. The hosted tiers (Hosted, Managed, Managed Pro) are paid services for hosting, updates, backups, and support.
What's the difference between Hosted and Managed?
Hosted runs the infrastructure for you — you bring your own LLM API key (Anthropic, Mistral AI, or any OpenAI-compatible provider like Groq, LiteLLM, Ollama, or LMStudio). Managed and Managed Pro include AI credits via Claude Sonnet 4.6 as primary and Mistral Large as the background/fallback model, so you don't need an API key.
Can I switch between plans?
Yes — plan changes happen in the Stripe-hosted billing portal you reach from your account page. Switching from Self-Hosted to a managed plan uses the migration wizard at `/app/migration` — a guided multi-step flow with zero-knowledge ECDH+AES-256-GCM encryption, not a single click. (Customer Portal in-app plan switching is currently routed through the hosted-portal link as a stop-gap; full in-app SSO is on the roadmap.)
What does "fair use" mean on Managed tiers?
Managed tiers include AI credits for normal business operations — conversations, research, workflows. It's not designed for bulk processing or automated pipelines running thousands of requests. See our Fair Use Policy for details.
Where is my data stored?
Self-Hosted: wherever you run it. Managed tiers: on Hetzner tenant hosts in Germany, inside your own isolated container with its own encrypted vault and database — no shared application runtime between customers. A dedicated single-tenant VPS is available as an Enterprise upgrade on request.
Do I need technical knowledge to self-host?
Basic Docker knowledge is enough. Run docker compose up and you're live. No Kubernetes, no complex config. The docs walk you through it in under 5 minutes.
Can I export my data if I leave?
Yes. Your data is yours. Full export is built into the engine — conversations, knowledge graph, contacts, workflows. No lock-in, no export fees.
Is there a team plan?
Not yet. lynox today is built for solo operators and small teams that share a single instance. We're exploring multi-user patterns post-launch — no promises on timing.
